Knitting More Baby Hats

Pink Hat in Knit One Crochet Too Baby Boo

My Sweet Dreams Baby Hat has caught the attention of a lot of people online and that makes me happy. I have been knitting several of these hats for my friends who are having grandbabies and various people we know who are having babies. They knit up so quickly, I don’t mind making a few in a day.

One of my favorite yarns to use for this hat is Knit Picks Swish DK. The yarn is unbelievably soft for a baby and it’s washable. Every book I look at that has baby patterns uses cashmere or a cashmere blend. Not only are some of these yarns unaffordable but they are impractical for new moms. I always try to give something machine washable when I make blankets or garments as a baby gift. The yarn I used in this pink hat is a bamboo blend that is squishy and soft. It knits up a size bigger than the Swish DK but it’s machine washable and the baby will grow into it.

My pattern for this hat is available on Ravelry. I’d love to hear what you think of it.

Other Things I’m Working On

I finished up my Ruffled Scarf class and finished the scarf I was knitting for the class. It’s being blocked now so I’ll have photos next time I post. I do love the Malabrigo yarn I used but may try something a bit different next time just to see how it looks.

My Baby Surprise Jacket sample was a big hit at Knit Happens and I’m hoping it inspires lots of people to try the BSJ class or pattern. I knit my Boston Beret with the same Baby Boo yarn to match and I think it makes a really cute toddler set. I’ll have photos of that soon too.

I’m working on another hat pattern that combines knitting and crochet embellishments. Since I knit and crochet, it’s fun to put them together to make something new.

Keep on creating and remember – if you make a mistake, take a deep breath and work through it. Chances are, no one will ever know but you.
